We stayed in Mountain View the first night. I took us to the wrong hotel first so we were worried that we weren't going to have a room for the night. But they pointed out that a hotel with a very simliar name was just down the street so we went there and found out that it was where we were suppose to be. I'm a clever kid.
The next day we went to Robyn's friend Matt and his new wife Perin's wedding. It was a beautiful small wedding where Matt's younger brother did the ceremony. We had yummy Turkish food and we gave the newer newly weds a party favor from our wedding since they didn't make it to ours. After that we headed back to Robyn's Mom's house and picked up a couple things and dropped off her wedding dress. Then we were off to the Santa Cruz. We went down to Santa Cruz and visited our favorite falafel place and got some ice cream afterwards.
We then headed down to Wattsonville where I had reserved a camp site by the ocean. So we camped out that night, and even bought firewood we didn't use. The next morning we got up and took a strole along the beach where we spied a sea otter and a shark playing in the water (not together).

I had planned the camping trip for this day in order to make the next day at the Old Monterey Inn bed and breakfast seem even nicer. Nothing better than coming home to a nice cosy bed and breakfast after a night roughing it in the wildnerness.
The Old Monterey Inn in Monterey was really nice and very cute, I picked it because it matched the whole secret garden theme we went with for the wedding reception. They had these two nice golden labs that hung around the place (Buckeye and Sonny). That night we went to a restaurant with special meaning to us, Club Jalapeno in Carmel. The next day we went back to Carmel and checked out a bunch of little art galleries and had a late lunch at a little Italian place. We also bought ourselves a little honeymoon gift (some more candles and a candle holder).

After our shopping spree we headed further down the coast to Big Sur, where again I brought us to the wrong place and found out our reservations for a cabin was at the place next door. We stayed at Riverside Cabins and Campgrounds. It was a beautiful little campsite next to the Big Sur river.

Our Cabin
The first Day there we went back up to Carmel and did a little more shopping at a bookstore and got lunch at a Swedish restaurant. Then we headed down the coast again listening to a tape we picked up at the Old Monterey Inn that talked about the history of Big Sur. Ten miles or so north of our cabin we stopped to wander around on some of the trails in the area. We spent an hour or two hanging out by the ocean and checking out sea otters. We found a small beach that you had to climb down some rocks to get to, so we had our own little personal beach.

Then we headed across the highway to follow the trails inland. The trail said it was 1.5 miles long and we thought that meant round trip, but it turned out that wasn't a round trip number. So by time we got to the end of the trail we had lost most of our light. We panicked a little but made the decision to run in the dark to get back to the car before it got pitch black. Turned out this was a really good decision because it got dark really quick and we were lucky we didn't get lost (or attacked by wild animals on the way back).

Scary Trail
As we walked back to the car from the end of the trail I saw an owl fly by so I pointed it out to robyn and she looked up and promptly sprained her ankle on a rock. She was pretty sure it wasn't broken so after sitting there for 20 minutes or so we got her up and back to the car. We drove up the road to a restaurant and got some ice for her leg. She was in a lot of pain so she took some tylenol and rested in the cabin while I set us up a fire and some places to sit. Even though her leg was all busted up we still enjoyed cooking soup and making s'mores around the fire.

The next day we had planned on hitting some more trails but that was no longer possible so I carried robyn around as much as I could.

Robyn's Foot And The Trail We Never Hiked
We had some lunch at a little roadside cafe and then headed to the local health clinic where they wrapped Robyn's leg and said it should be fine in a week or two. From there we drove down the coast and made a couple stops at vista points and then made our way to Paso Roables (sp?). We had room service for dinner and hung out in their natural hotspring jacuzzi. Not much else to do in that city that we could see.

The next day we shot down the coast to Santa Barbara where we stayed at the Cheshire Cat Inn (another bed and breakfast). This one was extremely cute too.

We unpacked and headed over to Andrea and Matt's wedding rehersal (which we'd headed over to earlier but found out we were 3 hours early). We weren't sure if we were suppose to be there or not but they were excited to see us and invited us to their rehersal dinner too. We had some yummy Japanese Habachi.
